Ah hah! JAM*Tester now officially runs properly on the Mac! (OS X at least). Aside from the various bug fixes, this is probably the biggest bit of news since... June... 25th? :) Anyway, please feel free to download JAM*Tester and let us know what you think. You're always welcome. Don't forget to visit our forums! |

Wow, I
finally got the code-coverage analysis set up in the
"Student Version" of JAM*Tester (see the link to
clover at
the bottom of the page). Unfortunately, the last
release had a problem with the auto-updater, so you'll
have to reinstall from scratch (please go to the
download page). Sorry
about that! Anyway, the error has been corrected.
Change
after change after change was made, which of course
means there may be bugs. Please, PLEASE let me
know if you spot any (contact).
I'm looking forward to hearing from you. Thanks
for visiting! |

Things
on the site will be changing rapidly over the next few
weeks. We're going to be making the student tool
far more prominent on the site. After all,
JAM*Tester is now really a suite of 2 applications.
Wish us luck!

Here's
something that's kind of neat. Today's release
brings to the forefront an automatic updater. From
now on, when you load up any JAM*Tester application, it
will check here to see if an update is available, and
ask you if you would like to download it. The
download will install itself. In other words, if I
make any changes, they will automatically be distributed
to all of you folks out there. Of course, you can
always come here and re-download the whole program, but
that's a waste if you ask me. Anyway, if
something's not working, or you'd just like to contact
us, visit our contact page. Thanks for visiting!

Ok,
we're getting closer and closer to a finalized form.
Things are getting a little more fun, too. We now
have a .msi installer (Microsoft installer). It
will create shortcuts to everything for you. The
student tool and the teacher tool should now be
available at the click of a button. I hope you
like the new system! Eventually, I'll make the
installer set up file associations and the like.
In the meantime, things are looking pretty good. I
hope y'all like my Student Tool "kill current test"
button. We've been looking for little ways to make
this program more fun for students. Enjoy!

Huge
update today. I've just released what is basically
a beta version of the Student Tool for JAM*Tester.
It aids one in the generation of JUnit test classes.
Hopefully you'll find some use in it.
Additionally, I fixed an important problem with
JAM*Tester in general, which was causing it to freeze
upon trying to edit a student's file twice. This
is now working fine. Thank goodness :).
Thanks
for dropping by, and don't forget to download the newest
version.

An
update. A new version has been released, and we've
made an important structural change. From now on,
new versions of JAM*Tester will be backwards compatible
with your old JAM*Tester save files. Old files
won't work any more, but from now on they will be
compatible. Sorry! At least now that's
fixed. We
also added the ability to directly edit a student's
files by right clicking their name and selecting edit
from the popup. You can also re-test just that
student.
Mr.
Wittry and I (David Poll) will be headed out to Las
Vegas for the weekend for a workshop there. We
look forward to seeing you if you'll be attending.
Otherwise, please let us know what you think of
JAM*Tester by e-mailing us! (See the contacts
page) We look forward to hearing from you. |

Ok, we
have one more release for you all today. The gui
has been updated to look much nicer. For the
moment, please ignore the pictures on the help page.
They haven't yet been updated to reflect the newest GUI.
However, the instructions remain accurate.
Additionally, some changes have been made to the
website. Please feel free to contact us and let us
know what you think. |

So,
after a few days of getting organized, the site is
finally up and running. I guess this would be the
official launch of JAM*Tester, then. Version 1.00
has been released, and it's on the
download page now.
Also, feel free to visit the new
forums and
let us know what you think or if you have anything to
say. Also, drop us a line by heading over to the
contacts page. We're always happy to hear from
you. |

Ok, I know it's been a while, but some big changes have
come of late. JAM*Tester has a new beta version
out, which makes some rather major changes. I
think you'll like them. Additionally, we now have
our very own domain name:
http://www.jamtester.com! From now on, that
will be the main site for this, although for some time,
www.depoll.com will
continue to mirror this. Make sure you check out
the rest of the site to find out more.
One more
thing: I'm working on putting a forum up for the
tool. This way, I can give more direct feedback,
and won't have to answer a bunch of duplicate questions. |

You may have noticed the recent addition of some Google
ads. I just figured it wouldn't hurt to get a
little help paying for this website. So, if you
want to be nice to me, click on one of the ads.
It's no big deal, though. No pressure! And
just to keep you all updated, JAM*Tester isn't currently
working on the Mac or *Nix, but I'm working on it.
Give me a few more weeks and I should have everything I
need to test it and get it working on all OSes. |

JAM*Tester v3.0 beta 3 has been released! Some
huge changes have been made. The only one that the
users will have have to worry about is that you can now
turn on the diagnostic output (if you're interested) by
going to the options menu and selecting "Output On".
Be warned, however, that this will open a new window for
each person's folder you grade. Additionally, the
function of the "Kill current test" button has changed.
Now, it will kill the individual hanging test, rather
than killing the entire person's set of tests.
Finally, the progress bar has been changed to show the
progress of the individual tests rather than just which
person is being worked upon. So, if you ask me,
the interface is looking much nicer. Please, if
you run into any problems, let me know.
One last thing. Hopefully, this will now work on
any operating system. I'll be testing it over the
next week. But, in the meantime, I can't guarantee
anything. Sorry! It would be very helpful if
those of you having problems would e-mail me (see the
contacts page) with a detailed description of the
problem. Thanks! |
